We strive to build strong relationships with first responders and local officials in the communities where we operate.

One way we do this is through our Community Outreach program, which provides us the opportunity to meet with firefighters, police officers and public officials throughout the country to discuss our Values, history and the scope of our operations within their communities. During outreach events, Plains representatives deliver a presentation that addresses our approach to pipeline construction, integrity, operational management, damage prevention, public awareness, and emergency preparedness and response. In 2017, Plains educated more than 1,100 first responders in and near the communities in which we operate.
 
In addition to conducting these presentations, we frequently invite responders and regulators to emergency response exercises. We also mail safety information to fire, police and emergency officials whose communities are traversed by our pipelines.
