Plains moves a significant portion of North America’s energy resources each day. We take seriously our responsibility to reliably transport these resources in a manner that maintains the safety of employees, contractors, local communities and the environment, and to conduct our business in an ethical manner.

Our approach to Social Responsibility is rooted in our company Values of Safety, Accountability, Ethics and Integrity, and Respect and Fairness. Although the principles upon which we operate and behave are consistent, we believe continuous improvement of the practices guiding how we manage our environmental and social impact is not only good business, but it’s the right thing to do.
Several years ago, Plains began the process to implement an Operations Management System (OMS) that outlines how we operate and continuously improve to meet our responsibilities. The OMS supplies a framework for integration of social and environmental performance goals into our business systems and identifies opportunities for their continuous improvement.

With assets in the United States and Canada, we tailor our Social Responsibility efforts to the needs of the communities in which we operate. Much of our Social Responsibility work pertains to all of North America, but certain programs are unique to one or the other country. The information within these Social Responsibility pages pertains to Plains All American Pipeline L.P. operations.
