Plains All American Pipeline and its affiliates adhere to high standards of environmental quality and are committed to providing a workplace that protects the health and safety of our employees and the communities surrounding our facilities.

Striving for Safety Excellence

In order to achieve this objective, Plains strives to integrate safety into its business planning and decision-making process. We believe this will enhance and promote the protection of our employees, the people who live, work and play in the vicinity of our assets, and the environment while increasing value for our stakeholders.

ALL Plains employees have the responsibility and authority to stop work without the fear of reprisal if they believe a situation exists that places themselves, a community, or the environment at risk.

Our focus on the health and safety of our employees and their surroundings is successful because it is developed, supported and carried out by our employees, from the senior management team to the newest hire. At Plains, our commitment to safety excellence goes beyond operating our facilities in a responsible manner -- it reflects the vision and dedication shared by our management team and our employees who operate our facilities on a daily basis.

Commitment to Safety

In fulfillment of this commitment, Plains strives to:

  • Comply with the laws, rules and regulations that pertain to the environment, health and safety, and are applicable to the Partnership’s business
  • Verify compliance through self-monitoring programs and regular facility assessments, and, in a timely manner, correct any conditions in our operations that have a material adverse health, safety, or environmental impact
  • Train and empower each employee to recognize his or her responsibility and accountability to perform all activities in a manner that is safe for the employee, his or her co-workers and the environment
  • Establish and maintain corporate controls, including periodic reviews, to ensure that the Partnership’s policy is being properly implemented and maintained
  • Participate when possible with government on a federal, state and local level in creating regulations to safeguard the community, workplace and the environment
